The Different Bases
Smoke Juice is also available with 2 different bases, PG and VG. PG stands for Propylene Glycol and VG stands for Vegetable Glycerin. Why two different bases to use for making e-liquids? Well, a few reasons, but first a little on each base.
PG is the same substance you are probably rather familiar with but do not know it. Anytime you have gone to a night club or event where they use fog machines, you have seen PG in action. It is also a common food additive and is in many of the foods you eat.
VG is derived from of course, vegetables or plants. Vegetable glycerin is also used in different foods.
So what are the differences between the two bases? Well, it is rare, but some people do have an allergic reaction to one or the other base. The reactions are usually minor and involve an itching feeling, headache, and some people may get hives. If this happens with PG, you can switch to VG, or if it happens with VG, you can switch to PG. Usually if you are allergic to one, you wont be to the other. One other difference is that VG tends to make a denser cloud of vapor, however, there is a trade off. The VG base tends to muck up the atomizers more quickly which means you may be buying atomizers more often then if you were using PG base smoke juice
The Main Components of Smoke Juice
Smoke Juice only has a few components that it is made from, unlike tobacco which can have hundreds or thousands of chemicals, compounds, and toxins created as a byproduct of burning the tobacco leaves. The main components are one of the bases we just covered, PG or VG, flavoring to give the e-liquid a taste, nicotine of course, sometimes a small amount of alcohol, and that is usually it. We are talking 4-7 compounds vs the hundreds or thousands in tobacco cigarettes. Quite a difference
It is possible to order all the components separately and make your own smoke juice at home, but you must be very careful while handling and mixing the nicotine solution. This also stands true for the pre-made smoke juice you buy that contains nicotine. You want to be sure to not get any of it on your hands, wear gloves or use a pipette, syringe, or other tools to keep you from getting the smoke juice on your person. If you do get some on you, be sure the wash it off immediately. The nicotine can be absorbed into your skin so you want to be sure to not get it one you
